Tony Nash - The World of E-Commerce | Be Better Off Show Podcast

Written by Brett Kelly | 9 October 2020

We often hear a lot about retail superpower Amazon, however in this week’s edition of the Be Better Off Show Podcast, Brett sits down with CEO of Booktopia, Tony Nash who is going head to head against Amazon.

Starting Booktopia with a budget of $10 a day, Tony has since grown and upscaled the business to be a $113 million-dollar online retailing empire with 200 employees and over 150,000 items in stock. Impressively, Booktopia sells a book every 10 seconds!

In a COVID-19 business economy and society Tony says:

“Books have proven to be recession proof in 2008 and 2009 and pandemic proof in 2020. Books are something people turn to for education, relaxation, escape and we were well positioned to take advantage of that”.

The world of E-commerce can be a complex place however with the enduring allure of books, 100% Australian owned Booktopia is navigating COVID-19 and continuing to take on global mega-brand Amazon.

“Find your one thing and do it really well. For us, it’s books"
