Protecting Our Endangered Species with Tim Faulkner

Written by Brett Kelly | 17 November 2020

Are you an animal lover? Then this is a Be Better Off Show to remember!

Australian wildlife was devastated in this year's Black Summer Bushfires. That, alongside the threat of introduced predatory species such as foxes, cats and dogs have pushed our native animals to the brink of extinction.

But hope is not lost, as Tim shares simple tips we can apply to contribute to a brighter future for Australia's wildlife. As we know, businesses have been devastated by the pandemic and The Australian Reptile Park is not immune to this. Hear how Tim continues to lead Australia's conservation efforts in the midst of COVID-19 and it's obstacles.

"Australia has one of the worst extinction rates on earth, we're one of the fastest countries losing biodiversity and have the worst mammal extinction rate in the world. More mammals have gone extinct than the rest of the world put together over the past 100 years."

Based on the Central Coast of NSW, The Australian Reptile Park is a hands-on zoo, home to exotic reptiles from around the world and a wide variety of Australian native animals. With several programs including the Tasmanian devil breeding program at Devil Ark and lifesaving snake and spider venom collection work, the Park leads the way when it comes to conservation and rehabilitation.

“We provide and facilitate venom for the production of antivenoms we save 300 lives a year, 20,000 in total"
